History

The Full Story

On Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Temple, Texas the beginning of a new district association was formed. At that luncheon were the following pastors:

Rev. H.R. Berry – New Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Houston

Dr. Terrance Grant-Malone – St. John Baptist Church, Houston

Rev. Raynard Hillis – Christian Community Church, Houston

Rev. Roderick Jackson – New Hope Baptist Church, Rockdale

Rev. L. David Punch – Greater Zion Baptist Church, Houston

Rev. Derron Robinson – New Elam Baptist Church, Hearne

Not present at the meeting but wanting to be a part of this founding fellowship were Rev. N.D. Burkley, Sr., Mt. Olive Baptist Church, of Galveston and Rev. D.R. Jefferson, Christian Home Baptist Church of Houston.

These pastors decided that in the best interest of the congregations where they are spiritual leaders it would be prudent to separate from Lincoln District Association. Thus, became the founding churches of Fellowship United District Association of Texas. Pastor Harrell R. Berry was named the first Moderator. Dr. Terrance Grant-Malone was named the first President of the Congress of Christian Workers.

There have been several meetings leading up to this Inaugural Service and many have been working to make this new beginning a great success. The main objectives for Fellowship United District Association of Texas are Christian education, evangelism and worship. The scriptural theme is based on 1 Corinthians 12:12-26 with verse 20 and the Motto: “But now are they many members, yet but one body”. With God leading us, and Jesus as our guide we will succeed.

We are pleased to have great leaders and teachers working to accomplish our goals of bringing men and women to Christ throughout area cities, the state and the nation.
